President Andrzej Duda has signed an amendment to the law which assistants citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of that country.
Polish for everyone
Amendments to the law is being applied to teaching of the Polish language, and in virtue of the new rules, local governments will be able to organize Polish language classes for foreigners of Ukrainian origin. Each foreigner will be able to take only one free course. Classes will be held in groups. The budget for every person that enrolls for a free course will allocate 2000 PLN. Self-government bodies will be responsible for transferring funds to the accounts of institutions that conduct language courses. If Ukrainians need in-depth study of the language, then funding can be increased up to 3,000 PLN.
The guardianship of the children
The amendment also introduces solutions that will help local governments provide sustainable care for refugee children. This is especially important when the parents work.
Financial support
The provisions of the amended law guarantee that anyone who provides accommodation and food for refugees will receive cash benefits of PLN 40 per day for a period of 120 days. In the application, in addition to the names of the residents, the PESEL number must be provided.
Collective accommodation
The law introduces changes in the technical and construction conditions of buildings used for the collective residence of Ukrainian citizens. In practice, it simplifies procedures related to the reconstruction, renovation, change of use of buildings or parts thereof, which are owned by local government units.
